In November 2009 many people in the industry were able to ‘grandfather’ their current licences enabling them to be licensed in the new regime post 17 November 2009.
The Real Estate Agents (Licensing) Regulations 2009 specify the current qualifications required to be licensed in the real estate industry. These Regulations were developed by the Ministry of Justice in consultation with industry and REAL ITO. There are certain timeframes around specific qualifications, in terms of validity of that qualification, for licensing. Please check our table of qualifications and/or the Real Estate Agents Authority website for more details.
If you did not grandfather your qualification in November 2009, you may not meet the licensing qualification requirements. We can help you update your qualification or recognise your knowledge and skills by a process called recognition of prior learning. Click here for more information.
